Okay, I'm starting with the dog, This one needs a complete color makeover, I think. The only parts I'd like to keep are the brick red shirts and the Jen Mundy-esque sky. I also kind of like the effect of subtle gradient shading and may end up shading the series that way (if at all).
pretty happy with this one, I think I'm definitely gonna work colored linework into the rest of the series, Sorry Yuko.
This one could benefit from a color re-work too, it was converted from CMYK and it's a little more washed out then I remember.
I think this one is working pretty well but I'd like to add kind of a fire light look to the whole thing.
This one is a little problematic, I think the colors are okay, except for the dark windows and the brown, ochre that'll probably get cut but I'm pretty pleased with the rest. The mask is going be kind of glowing from within as well.
And finally, I'm a little worried that this one is kind of color overload. I'm pretty happy with it but maybe it could be toned down a little. Also, the shading method here is a little less then pleasing for me and I'm leaning more toward gradients.

perty sik, I like the color. just think there should be some layer grouping then threatment w/ adjustment layers. Could totally not be the look you want but some sense of depth to focus the eye toward the characters (beyond the fact that they're the most detailed):e.g-(1) fire-fighter skull has a forground of 2 buildings infront of characters, 1 building in mid-ground, and 3 in back (red, off-whyte, and blue) if the front where adjusted w/ a darker tint across the front, and the back 3 adjusted w/ a lighter tint similiar to the washed sun-set w/o a gradient could work. Cross-hatching w/ this tinting color idea as the stroke color could be a cool idea too. only idea is that the eye is gonna be drawn to the more saturated colors vs neutral, and playing w/ that. FEEEL IT YOU EMOTIONAL FUCK! ffffffffFFFFFFEEEL IT!!! son.

ReplyDeleteFuck man, these are great I actually feel that you pieces get stringer as I scrolled down, it seemed to me as the color had more weight on it on the final 2 pieces compared to the rest.
ReplyDeleteI think you should throw in some of the little stuff you talked about in the first pieces, like coloring the lines and gradients without going overboard of course. But keeping the heavyness of the color that you have in the final two pieces.
Dude I seriously thought that the final piece was an actual japanese print when I first looked at it. Pretty balls out if you ask me.
I think there should be some bartering of artworks after you finish these babies. ;)

ReplyDeleteTerrific work. I really dig the second image as well as the last two. I think the colored linework definitely suits the drawings. I also appreciate the tentative use of gradients. Easy to get carried away with those, the work looks great with the flat color. Keep it up.
